AMPLIFIERS  

Amplifiers are the "work-horse" of any sound system, and that is why you have to choose very carefully the amplifier that suits your needs best. Please remember that if your speakers are for instance 300 watts RMS each at 8 ohms, your amplifier will probably need to be capable of at least 600 watts per channel, bearing in mind that just about all amplifiers are rated at full power into 4 ohms. So, this means that if you only have one speaker on each channel of your amplifier, you will only get approximately just over half of the rated power. Example: A 600 watt per channel amplifier at 4 ohms will probably only deliver 350-400 watts at 8 ohms.

WARNING!! There is a little known fact that an amplifier that is not powerful enough for the job is more likely to blow up your speakers than an amplifier which is too powerful!! This is because as the amplifier is driven to its full power and your clip/peak lights come on, your signal is being clipped. Which means the music becomes electronically distorted. Without getting too technical, this means it becomes potentially lethal for your speaker cones. There are too many Amplifier Manufacturers to mention them all, but here are a few that we recommend.
